  1. Ground Maintenance Contracting

A core activity of the Environmental Services Division is the ground maintenance contracts in place to carry out regular grass cutting, plant and border maintenance activities for a variety of property businesses and church grounds.

  1. Garden Centre

Situated in the garden grounds alongside St Xavier’s RC Church in Carfin we have two polytunnels laid out for seasonal flower pots, hanging baskets and potted plant sales, including hand-made wooden ornamental garden planters and bird boxes as part of our education service and vocational training program provision.

  1.  Community Regeneration and Environmental Services

Successful tendering has seen us participate in a variety of regeneration activities carried out in conjunction with North Lanarkshire Council Regeneration and Environmental Services Division in local community areas such as, Strathclyde Country Park, Cumbernauld Community Park, Riccard Johnston Country Park, New Stevenson amongst others.

The many activities undertaken in these types of vocational training project works include hard and soft landscaping, creating fresh woodland top trek / mono blocking pathways, bush and tree trimming, the creation of decking areas around pond pathways, tree and grass planting and fence erection.

  1. Expanded Learning Opportunities

Under Activity Agreements with the Local Authority, our Environmental Education workshops have been designed to help the most vulnerable young people in our community better understand:

  • The environmental issues around food production and disposal
  • What are and how do we measure carbon emissions
  • What can be done by them as individuals and by their communities to reduce their carbon footprint
  • Provide the right skill set for their future employment prospects in general and specifically in this sector
  • Encourage them to progress into employment, further learning and training

The experience includes hard and soft landscaping, propagation of plants and vegetables, ground maintenance, arboriculture activities and basic wood-work construction of garden items.

Successful completion of the Expanded Learning Opportunity experience aims to certify the participant with either a Dynamic Youth Award through the Eco-Schools programme leading to entry on the Employability Fund programmes at Stage 2 of the Strategic Skills Pipeline or an SVQ LANTRA/SQA award for Horticulture

  1. Commercial Works

All types of general garden maintenance, hard and soft landscaping, pathways, driveways, fences and tree work are able to be undertaken by our qualified specialist team in these disciplines.
