What counts as garden waste
This service is about green waste, the material a garden produces. Typical loads include hedge clippings, prunings, branches and brash, leaves, grass cuttings, dug out shrubs, old turf and weeds. Soil, rubble, timber from old sheds, furniture and general household rubbish are a separate matter. If those are mixed in, say so when asking for a quote so the load can be assessed properly rather than discovered on the day.
If the garden itself still needs clearing, with brambles to cut and beds to reclaim, the right page is garden clearance. Bigger plots, scrub and digger work belong under site clearances. This page is for when the cutting is done and the waste is what is left.
Rubbish removal from the garden, without the trips to the tip
Many people start a garden project with good intentions and a car boot. After the third run to the recycling centre the rest of the pile tends to sit. Green waste removal saves those journeys. The waste is bagged or loaded loose, the area is raked and swept, and you are left with clear ground instead of a stain on the lawn where the heap was.
It also suits landlords and agents clearing a garden between tenants, people preparing a house for sale and anyone who has had a tree felled by a friend and now has the branches to deal with.
Booked separately or after other work
Green waste is taken away as standard on Craig's hedge, tree and clearance jobs, so you do not need to book this page for those. Garden waste removal on its own is for waste that already exists. It can also be added on to a garden maintenance visit where you have been saving up cuttings in a corner.
For hedge trimmings you are cutting yourself, our guide to disposing of hedge cuttings covers council bins, composting and the recycling centre before you decide whether paying for removal makes sense.
Check who is taking your waste
Householders have a legal duty of care for their own waste, which includes making sure anyone taking it away is allowed to do so. Whoever you use, it is sensible to check they are a registered waste carrier on the Environment Agency public register, and to be wary of offers that seem too cheap. Waste that is fly tipped can be traced back to the household it came from.
Cost of garden waste removal
There is no fixed figure on this site because loads vary so much. The cost depends mainly on the volume of waste, what it is made of, whether it is bagged or loose, how far it has to be carried from the garden to the vehicle and whether anything other than green waste is mixed in. Branches that need cutting down to size before loading take longer than bagged clippings.
A photo of the pile with something for scale, plus your location, is usually enough for Craig to give an initial estimate. Call or use the quote form below.
